Laboratory Tests

Lets get to the root of what is causing the symptoms in your body. I use very specific tests designed to find the underlying stress in your body.

All labs are mailed to the client to either do at home or with instruction on where to get blood drawn if needed. For more information about Lab tests I offer and how it works please make a free appointment with me. To review a lab you will need to make an appointment with me. Please schedule a free consult or send me a message if you are interested in a specific lab.

Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory GI MAP

The Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory GI Microbial Assay Plus (“GI-MAP”) a 1-day stool test includes markers for gluten sensitivity (anti-gliadin IgA), inflammation in the gut (calprotectin), immunity in the gut (SIgA), pancreatic enzyme sufficiency (elastase), and occult blood. It also looks for the presence of pathogens – including H Pylori and other bacteria, parasites, worms and viruses – in the gastrointestinal tract. To detect pathogens, the lab uses Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), or quantitative PCR (qPCR), which combines amplification and detection into one step. qPCR “is one of the most powerful and sensitive gene analysis techniques available to detect the DNA of microorganisms.

MARKERS INCLUDED ON THIS TEST:

  • Bacterial Pathogens (Campylobacter, C difficile Toxin A & B, EHEC, E coli 0157, EIEC/Shigella, ETEC LT/ST, Salmonella, Shiga-like Toxins, Shigella, etc.)
  • Parasitic Pathogens (Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia)
  • Viral Pathogens (Adenovirus, Norovirus, Rotavirus)

  • Parasites (Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Endolimax nana, Entamoeba coli, Chilomastix mesnelli, Cyclospora, Pentatrichomonas)
  • Fungi/Yeast (Candida albicans, Candida spp., Geotricum spp., Microsporidia spp., Rodotorula spp.)
  • Viruses (Cytomegalovirus, Epstein Barr Virus)
  • Worms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Ascaris lumbricoides, Necator americanus, Trichuris trichiura, Taenia spp)
  • Additional Tests (Elastase, Steatocrit, SIgA, Anti-Gliadin, Calprotectin, b-Glucuronidase, Occult Blood)
  • Antibiotic Resistance Genes

PLUS Additional $80 lab fee

  • You also have the option to have "Fecal Zonulin" as an add-on to the GI-MAP (zonulin is elevated with increased intestinal permeability)  Pricing: insurance is billed and the client pays $29. If denied, the client pays $64.

Urine Organic Acids Testing

The Great Plains Organic Acids Test (OAT) provides insight into the body’s cellular metabolic processes. Organic acids are metabolic intermediates that are produced in pathways of central energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter breakdown, or intestinal microbial activity. Marked accumulation of specific organic acids detected in urine often signals a metabolic inhibition or block. The metabolic block may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up or drug effect. Several of the biomarkers are markers of intestinal bacterial or yeast overgrowth.

MARKERS INCLUDED ON THIS TEST:

  • INTESTINAL MICROBIAL OVERGROWTH
  • OXALATE METABOLITES
  • GLYCOLYTIC CYCLE METABOLITES
  • MITOCHONDRIAL MARKERS – KREBS CYCLE METABOLITES
  • MITOCHONDRIAL MARKERS – AMINO ACID METABOLITES
  • NEUROTRANSMITTER METABOLISM MARKERS
  • PYRIMIDINE METABOLITES – FOLATE METABOLISM
  • KETONE AND FATTY ACID OXIDATION
  • NUTRITIONAL MARKERS
  • INDICATORS OF DETOXIFICATION
  • AMINO ACID METABOLITES
  • MINERAL METABOLISM

Pricing: $355 • PLUS Additional $80 lab fee

Genova IP Test—Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut):

This test is done by drinking two packets of varied sugar components and through 2 urine samples. The test examines small intestinal absorption and barrier function in the bowel.
Price: $125 • PLUS Additional $80 lab fee

Oxford Biomedical MRT Leap—Food Sensitivities Testing:

Through a blood draw this tests for hidden inflammatory responses to 150 different foods and food-chemicals. This test provides insight into inflammation provoking foods and food chemicals and identifies the best foods for the individual. It is not dependent on antibody reactions (IgG, IgA, etc). (This test has be done outside of NY.)

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth

Test evaluates whether there is bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine.

MARKERS INCLUDED ON THIS TEST:

  • Hydrogen (Gas levels are measured in ppm at baseline and at 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180 minutes after the consumption of the lactulose solution)
  • Methane (Gas levels are measured in ppm at baseline and at 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180 minutes after the consumption of the lactulose solution)

  • Advantages of this test: This test uses a lactulose solution to detect SIBO. Lactulose is preferable to glucose because it can detect SIBO throughout the entire small intestine, whereas glucose only can detect SIBO in the very upper part of the small intestine. Glucose testing does not look for SIBO in the middle or lower small intestine - where the overgrowth is more likely to be.
